Reference samples Hardness reference sample pairs well suited to check Rollscan and sensor periodically are now available. The samples representing hardnesses 50 HRC and 60 HRC are available in two different geometries. Key issue is, that one of these samples has low hardness around 50 HRC, the other one has high hardness around 60 HRC, and together these 2 are a reference pair. By this, the BN equipment will always need to show a certain difference between those 2 samples and can thus be controlled. However because each sample is a unique piece, can no certain mp-values be given beforehand for the samples.
Samples are made from powder steel and are heat treated to specific hardness. Surfaces are fine ground. BN reading of the sample with 50 HRC is about 50 % more than that of the sample with hardness 60 HRC.
The geometries available are cylinder and ring. Rings can also be attached to a shaft for easy reference measurements e.g. in some type of stands.
